And Dean would keep it that way. The idea flickered in his mind of making sure people didn't mention the show or it's contents came up more than once while he was waiting for his little brother to get to the bar. Even if he was omitting the truth, he knew it was still be considered a lie. A betrayal. Yet another burn for Sam and he would go back to being viewed as the older brother that had burned his baby brother. But it seemed to be their revolving cycle they dealt with -- Dean betrays Sam, Sam betrays Dean and they find out in the most horrible way possible.
It also strengthened their relationship, these tests. Dean wasn't justifying anything he was merely getting ready for the inevitable even if the tiny little voice in the back of his mind told him 'tell Sammy'. He ignored it like he ignored a lot of things, like reason. Sam didn't want their relationship tested just the same as Dean hadn't when the tables were turned on him. Or when Cas was sneaking behind their backs. Every single time, every single time he felt like a hole was growing at the tips of his toes and the world was threatening to swallow him whole but he still had faith they would come back.
Every fricking time.
The moment they broke apart, he was back to smiling. Relieved. For the same and yet different reasons why Sam was. He was reunited with his brother, yeah. But he was sort of glad he could see any bit of suspicion in his brother's eyes fading with each passing moment. Every second of this "brotherly" moment was getting rid of any reservations Sam seemed to have that his brother was hiding something. Or at the very least he was hoping it was. "Dude, you got no idea. I've only spent a week in this place and I'm about ready to claw my eyes out. I tried everything to get back -- we can't even summon demons here."
The plus side was that there was Jo and she was alive. "Did...you saw Jo, right? She's about the only one other than you I actually know-know but I guess more people can pop up." He meant more that had died. Dean felt like he had the potential to be haunted by the ghost of Christmas Past here -- it didn't sit well with him.
