Who: Iris West and Barry Allen
What: Complicated feelings have been growing in Iris
Where: Barry's apartment
When: Tonight
Warnings: Spoilers for The Flash episode "Fallout"
Status: In progress
When Iris told Barry that she needed time alone, she hadn't expected to speak to him so soon after.
It was barely 48 hours since he dropped the bomb that he was The Flash, that he was the man she had those late night conversations with, the man she chose to ignore her boyfriend's calls over. The man that flirted with her behind a mask. And that he was the one that attacked her boyfriend, too. That was also important and Iris did her best to focus on that more than the other thing. Because if she focused too much on the other thing, she would have to admit that she flirted back. She would have to confront the weird feelings that had began to grow soon after Barry confessed his love to her. But that wasn't the main issue. The main issue was that he lied to her for months and the only reason he told her about it was because in this place, secrets didn't stay secret for too long. Not when their lives were available to anyone with a TV and internet connection.
That's why she was making her way to Barry's apartment, because she chose to watch their show. She wanted to see how she could've missed something so important as her best friend being a super hero. But in looking for hints to his secret, she came upon the truth of what happened to Barry's mother. Dr. Wells--the man he considered to be a friend, the man who saved his life--had been responsible for murdering her. For Iris to see it for herself, she had momentarily fell as if the ground had been pulled out from under her. Again, for the second time since she's been in this place, Iris found herself crying. But this time, it was for Barry. She knew she couldn't let him deal with this knowledge on his known. No matter how she felt about him lying to her, her heart wouldn't allow him to suffer by himself.
So that's why she was at his door now. She did her best look presentable before trekking over but as she grew closer to the apartment, Iris could feel the tears creeping back up. She hoped he would answer, she hoped he would let her in.
With a heavy heart, she knocked on the door, exhaling nervously.
