WHO: Nick Fury & Kamala Khan
WHAT: Nick really dislikes when the portals bring in young individuals without a ready made means of support. So why not volunteer to be that means for awhile?
WHEN: immediately after this
WHERE: Granny's Diner
RATING: PG
STATUS: In Progress
Nick knew that once Clint saw that he'd gone to help a new arrival, he'd probably never live it down. Just because his tendency to pull people who were far too young to qualify as agents out of the cold and try his best to give them a new lease on life had tampered off in the last decade or so didn't mean that he couldn't appreciate the necessity to step in when need be. It had been why he'd been fine that Clint had made a different choice with Natasha. It was why he'd approved Jasper's two bank robber delinquents. It was why he'd not sentenced Ward to an immediate execution the second that they found out about his HYDRA affiliations. Because, more than anything, Nick was a man who believed in people, and if someone he trusted came to him and told him that all someone needed was a break, who was he to question that statement? Sometimes, one person believing in someone was all it took.
Not that this new arrival probably needed anything like that. She was just young, young enough to still be concerned about her parents being upset about her arrival here, and that just needed a little direction and assistance. Maybe a tour of the town, an escort to the apartments, and an explanation of what she'd have to do in order to get registered for classes here. Though, he might let Phil handle that last bit.
Stepping into the diner, Nick cast a quick glance around before spotting the young woman at one of the booths. She looked far younger in person than she did at first glance on the network. Either that, or he was just turning into an incredibly old man. "Kamala?" Nick asked, stepping over to her and offering her a very slight smile. "I hope you haven't been waiting long."
