It was a snap reaction and Sarah might've gasped a bit when the blades - or claws - came out. It wasn't out of fear so much as surprise, but it wasn't like she'd ever seen anything like it. There he was, the stuff of comic books and Saturday mornings, cracking jokes and showing off said claws. The whole damn thing was surreal and instead of running in whatever direction sanity seemed to be in, she just found herself smiling. "Holy shite..." she said quietly, taking a nervous step forward. "Is that...I mean, does it...?"
She wanted to ask if it hurt him or something equally as stupid, but instead of pissing him off, she looked up. "Guessing you don't have to carry any switchblades or guns down the back of your jeans with those," she said, still slightly awed. "They're amazing."
For once, she actually meant it. She wasn't some science geek like Cosima and she felt that if she ever got the two of them in the same room, Cos would never shut up about how genetics and evolution had advanced him in some kind of revolutionary way, but she could still appreciate it. He wouldn't be anyone's labrat with something like those.
Scratching the back of her neck nervously, she debated over giving him her name and then decided the hell with it. She'd been captured before. Captured, surrendered, escaped...it was all looking the same. "Sarah," she replied. "And if you think that's funny, you should try pretending to be a cop sometime. I liked the badge, but hated the paper work."
She'd felt safe up until Helena'd almost shot her in the head. Although compared to a demigod, it didn't seem like anything at all. "Wait...you've met all three?" she asked, shrugging. "No fucking way. Did you hand Ares arse to him? Knock him down a couple pegs for sticking it to a married woman?"
Laughing, she pushed a few strands of hair away from her mouth, she realized she was letting her guard down. Maybe more than she should've been, but since he wasn't sticking those claws anywhere, Sarah felt like maybe something would just be okay for once. God knew that was all she wanted. Whether it was an offer or not, he should've known better than to say something like that to a street urchin. Even if she hated being called that.
"What the hell," she said. "Could use anything good about now."
