"Super sure-" Caroline watched through anxious blue eyes as the young man stepped forward, gently brushing aside the bush-the only real obsticale, real fortitude between the two of them-and paused not far from where she stood. Even if he was human, mere human sight, with the light of the moon casting shadows on Caroline's pale face, he'd be able to catch sight of the blood staining lips and crinkling at the corner of her mouth. The smile was impossible to keep securely locked in place-not like it had been to start with anyway-and became more of a nervous frown at his approach. As if he were the predator and she was the prey, Caroline stepped back a bit. She was torn between running away and staying. After all, her keen sight had caught the traces of possible concern on his handsome features and part of her believed he really thought she was a human, hurt possibly and in trouble, but not the monster. Not the one with the fangs. And she really wasn't a...monster. She didn't kill people-well, unless they hurt her friends or her first-and she always fed off a steady, nonviolent diet of blood bags until now. The animal thing was more Stefan's forte, not Caroline's, but stealing blood bags seemed to be the bad way to go in a town where your mom was not on the police force. More so, she was a stranger, a "newbie", here and the last thing she really wanted to do was ruffle some feathers and stir up some town folk with pitchforks and fire torches. So furry little critters were a definite go because the alternative was going to spike those flaming torches and pitchforks definitely.
Of course, there was no murderous townspeople now, just this man with his possibly concerned expression etched on his face. Hiding had never been Caroline's forte, not even when her life depended on it, and she was just too bold, to personable, and outgoing to ever seclude herself away from the general public. In this case, she'd come too far with her vampirism to ever feel ashamed again about it. She'd excepted herself a long time ago, more than a couple bags she'd say, and new surroundings hadn't changed her from what she'd been in Mystic Falls. Hell, she started up a party when she arrived! If that didn't scream genuine Caroline Forbes, then what did? Nothing because no one could plan a party or throw one like she could. Period. Her only alteration had been to feed off animals and be sneaky about it, but like Mystic Falls, she should have already assumed that secrets and small towns were never a good mix. If not him, someone else would have caught her some night doing the same thing. Running would only make her look guilty even if she'd been doing nothing really wrong in the first place and she didn't like running, especially from what she would be for the rest of her life. She opened her mouth to reply, but his voice cut her off. Did he just say it was okay?
