He brushed aside a branch that was in the way, taking care not to break it as he pushed past to see better the young woman standing before him. With an eased practice of one used to assessing the situation and those around him he looked her over, noting the faint blood stains on her face and dirt on her jeans. Someone else might have turned tail and fled at that point, or pointed a finger and become hysterical at the sight. However, Steve was never one to rush to quick judgements, nor turn tail and run at a possible sign of trouble. His first thought was that she must be hurt, and his face showed concern as he gestured towards hers. "Are you sure? Is there a cut or -" As he took a step closer he saw that there didn't seem to be any slice or bruising, just dried blood as though it had spilled there.
He paused, voice trailing off a moment but again he didn't leave. There weren't any obvious bodies or graves nearby, if another person was even involved at all. If she even possibly was a vampire.
He'd had some dealings with them in the past. Some more than a little unfortunate, but also he'd taken the time with Jubilee to make the point that simply because one was a vampire didn't mean they were inherently evil. Goodness wasn't some mile marker reached and then a hard-won plateau, it was choices made every single day. He had no reason to assume, just because of what she might be, that she was making a bad choice out here. In a quiet tone reserving judgement he added, "It's okay. Here," as he fished out a tissue from his pocket and offered it to her to clean herself. "I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that things aren't exactly fine." Given her demeanor and the location, something was clearly going on, but he left it open rather than presuming what it was. "I'm Steve, by the way," he added, as though this sort of conversation wasn't something entirely foreign to him.
