Eames gave Arthur a look. He was beginning to think that it was a look he would be giving him often.
"Oh yes," he said dryly. "Because it's so hard to be with you." He was teasing too but something made him turn the light joke into a serious matter.
"No need to thank me for that, Arthur," he said, but he put a firmness in his voice that said all to well the matter was not to be argued. Eames hadn't realized that Arthur was so self conscious. He had no need to be. He was smart, funny, sweet, snarky, beautiful.
He had already decided on his food and Arthur had ordered his drink and so Eames watched as Arthur looked over his menu. Once Arthur had finished and had put his menu down, Eames could only smile from across the table as the slightly younger male began to fidget.
"Here? Oh yes. All the time, didn't I tell you? I'm best friends with the owner."
He chuckled and shook his head, grinning at the other's suggestion.
"I think you should. I will be less bored and I can keep an eye on you."
The waitress had returned with their drinks and took their orders. Eames ordered the salmon as Arthur ordered his halibut. Lifting his glass, he raised a toast to Arthur.
"To new beginnings. To new adventures. To new dreams."
They toasted and Eames held Arthur's gaze as he sipped from his glass.
