Okay, so maybe showing up randomly at someone's door wasn't the most atypical thing in the world for Logan. In fact, it was something that he ended up doing more often than he liked. Sure, maybe he was usually in hiding or running for someone, and the meetings were usually semi-clandestine surprises the recipients weren't too happy about, but Logan was doing just about everything he could think of to actually make this not the most horrible thing ever. Yes, he was still looking tense and grumpy, but he always looked that way. Yes, he was hiding something under the flap of his new leather jacket, but that didn't mean anything either. It wasn't like he was the kind of guy who really needed a gun. Of course, why Logan did feel the need to hide flowers was probably the bigger question, but it was one he was doing everything in his power to avoid. If nobody saw them, there wouldn't be anyone to ask any questions or point fingers the next time they all sat down to play cards. Of course, there was one person he couldn't escape asking why he was here: Himself. Most of it Logan chalked up to the sudden disappearance of so many. Gambit, in particular, had rattled him slightly, never mind actually being sent back himself. Logan's missed time with Daken, he'd missed whole lives being caught up inside his own, nightmarish, memories. Maybe that's all it was, Logan reconciling his own sense of lost time and missed opportunities. Maybe. Maybe part of him just wanted something nice for a change. Maybe part of him was lonely, even if he'd never admit it. Just like he'd never admit anything about the flowers under his coat as he reached up with his other arm to knock on Carol's door. |
