Jane tried not to laugh, she really did. Laughing was not at all comfortable at the moment, but she couldn't help another faint chuckle. Calling this place strange was like saying space was big. It was true, but to Jane it was clearly a comical understatement. She just shook her head faintly, but kept her eyes fixed on the woman. She just had to keep talking, ride out this bad time, and soon someone would be here to take care of it. Standard Combat field medicine 101: Don't go to sleep.
"You can say that again.." Jane cleared her throat, trying to find some sense of her voice again. Her throat felt dry, which Jane attributed mostly to the fact she'd been attacked with some insane energy weapon more than anything, but she could still manage a few swallows to bring some sense of herself back to it. "Of course, I can't really say I understand a lot of things people choose to fight about.."
Sure, there were some things Jane understood. Saving the Galaxy, obviously, ranked as a pretty good reason to fight. Protecting people? Also a good reason. Sometimes fighting and violence were just things that had to happen, because someone had to stand up to the things that were bad, wrong, or just plain evil. Jane understood that, fundamentally so. Now, at this stage in her life, she was one of the first to volunteer. She liked to think that she'd earned a break, that she would rest, but she knew better. If something, here or anywhere, demanded someone stand up and fight against it? Jane would probably be the first one to raise her hand.
"And I promise I'll be there.." Jane replied, starkly serious about it. She heard the sounds, and angled her head slightly, trying to see just what was going on. It wasn't like she wasn't expecting it, or had any real choice in the matter. She even tried to assist those here to help her, where she could. This wasn't Jane's first (or likely last) time needing this kind of help.
"See ya' soon." She offered encouragingly, before being whisked out of sight to the land of feeling better...at least that was what she hoped.
