When Billy had planned to leave New York, to protect everyone from that stupid parasite he'd released, the one he'd set lose by trying to play superhero and help - again, this wasn't what he'd had in mind. The portal had come out of nowhere, and he hadn't even had time to react before he was pulled in. And now he was on the edge of the most stereotypical looking small New England town he'd ever seen. It was...well...it definitely wasn't how he'd expected to spend his evening. Then again, nothing about the past few days had been what he'd expected. All he'd wanted to do was help, to give Teddy back at least part of what he'd lost. He hadn't expected it to go so wrong. He really should have though. Wasn't that what they'd tried to stop Nate from doing, when Cassie died? Dead was dead and trying to change it...well...suffice to say it never ended well.
That had been what he was trying to tell Teddy. Every time they tried, people got hurt or died and he couldn't keep doing it. Better to just stop trying to be something they clearly weren't cut out to be. Now they'd all lost their parents, maybe forever, and he was suddenly in some town in another state or maybe another world. He was seriously tired of all this crap. He knew Teddy had fallen in love with a superhero, but he didn't see himself as much of one any more. Besides, if Loki was right, he couldn't even trust that Teddy's love was real and not just the product of really powerful wishful thinking. He sighed and closed his eyes. No use dwelling on it. He had to try to get back to the others so they could engage in more pointless heroics.
"IwanttogobackIwanttogobackIwantogobackIwanttogoback..."
He repeated the words over and over, but nothing happened. Sighing, he flopped down on the ground, staring down at the water. "Figures," he muttered to himself.
