This is several times more earnestness than I'm comfortable with, Anders. It's much simpler when I can pretend not to take anything seriously.
If we stood forever on all of the bad decisions we've made Anders, none of us would get out of bed. It's honestly easier to think of it as act done by another man, one with Justice in his mind, and to be glad you're here without him. Neria has told me a little of what you were like before we met, I wish I'd gotten to know that you as well.
There was ample reason to stand with you, too, you know. You didn't do everything wrong, and without your help, I doubt any of us would be alive. Knowing a different Hawke is harder for me to understand than the existence of an Anders without Justice. Though from what a few others have said, no matter which Hawke exists, they all have similar luck.
Champion largely by accident, you know. It's a tale largely made up of incidental and unbelievable and largely nonsensical events. Varric would have called the whole thing horseshit, if he hadn't lived through it too. Maker, but I miss that dwarf.
