Battle on a Rainy Afternoon
Title: Battle on a Rainy Afternoon
Characters: Aya Fujimiya and a mysterious stranger
Team: Schwarz
Rating: G, with a cut at end notes for spoiler.
Word Count: 100
Series: Original TV series. The flower shop lives forever in my heart.
Author's Notes: at end.
The stranger with oddly bleached hair wandered in out of the misty rain and struck up a conversation with Aya, who hadn't spoken five words since breakfast.
Unexpectedly, Aya accepted the challenge. Tension grew; tempers frayed as each parried his opponent's subtle attacks. Omi fretted; Ken cheered; Yohji smoked.
The battle raged in deadly, hypnotic patterns for an hour, moving outside when the rain stopped. At last, between the hyacinth and creeping cereus, a clear victor emerged.
Aya had lost. Badly. He stalked off, wounded.
With polite thanks, Hikaru Shindou collected the black and white Go stones and headed home.

Who knew Aya played Go?? ::grin::
I'm still enamoured of Victorian flower meanings.
* Hyacinth: Sport. Game. Play.
* Creeping cereus: Modest genius.

Cut for Hikaru No Go series ending spoiler!
Hikaru Shindou became a Go professional by the end of the wonderful anime series, Hikaru No Go. He was younger than Omi at the time; I believe he was 13.
