I didn't even know I could tell on him during the first playthrough, so...I may or may not be inadvertently making up for having not done it then by playing Beth. >.> Which wasn't in the original character plans, but it's a new juicy bit of backstory for her.
I can see that! Though she's a nice enough girl, Beth can be considered pretty uptight, and wasn't very popular amongst other apprentices because of how close she was to the "grown up" mages. She'd sigh and roll her eyes at Ashya's antics, probably scold her for playing pranks and the like -- but she's not too hard to win over, and would eventually loosen up and regard Ashya with great affection, albeit still a little bit naggy. Beth would definitely be concerned by her shift in behavior after her Harrowing, though a bit selfishly, she's kind of too wrapped up in the idea of becoming a Grey Warden to spend much time talking about it.
Telling on her friend is actually one of her deepest, darkest secrets, something that she's been keeping from Desiderio for years, since it was his brother who she turned in. It was sort of a secret that was between her, Irving, and Greagoir. However, it is widely known that Bethen's a goody two-shoes who has a very black and white view of how magic should be used, and it's common knowledge that she was one of the few mages to live through Uldred's attack, so her reaction to any signs of blood magic would be pretty bad. Basically, mentioning it will result in BETHEN DISAPPROVES, -1000 </3.
