Lythe's first impulse is to wonder what in the name of all the Paragons a child so young is doing as a Companion to the Grey Wardens.
Then she remembers she was only a year older than Ashya when she herself died and joined the Legion of the Dead. And she did that out of desperation.
Unknowing of the girl's secret motivations, Lythe is greatly impressed by Ashya's purposeful determination to aid the Wardens and would treat her as an adult. Any den-mother-ing that follows would be from "acclimate the new recruit to the squadron" instincts, not "protect the helpless little child" ones. X3
