Beth has mixed feelings about that concept of "freedom". On the one hand, major suckage that she can't do what she wants and goes where she wants, because she's partially convinced that if she a) weren't born a mage and b) there hadn't been a Blight that would've killed her anyway, she'd be out doing the kinds of things Dee has. But at the same time, the Circle is her home and she's never felt bad about living there, even after all the crazy shit that went down. At least she had a (very tall, pointy) roof over her head and people who cared about her, right? Still, she signed up to be a Grey Warden because that would finally give her the chance to see the rest of the world, even if there's also a high chance of dying in the process. Better out there than rotting away in the Tower. She's so excited to learn so much from all these new people.
