Welcome to the game everyone! :D
We're really, really happy to have gotten so many wonderful applications and can't wait to get started. That said, much as we'd like to enact our plot, we're going to wait a couple more days until we have more of the premade roles filled out. But that doesn't mean there isn't anything to do until then!
Because Alistair can't be in 20 places at once (no matter how many fans may wish that were true), we've set up a timeline of events and an order in which the future Wardens were recruited, spaced out with consideration to rough travel time. Though Dagna suggests that the time it takes to go between Orzammar and Kinloch Hold is over two weeks, we've decided to change the scale down with the assumption that she meant by foot; presume that Alistair is on horseback, thus shortening some travel time between destinations.
The first group of events (weeks One through Eight) all occurred before the time at which the game is set to start. You are very much welcome to play out these events, or any backdated scenes that take place before then, by posting a thread or narrative in thedas (our main community) while we wait for a few more characters as a fun exercise in character development. If companion characters can find a way to get themselves into the plot or into a thread at these early points, they can definitely do that, as well! So without further ado, a rough timeline:
PRE-GAME: SECOND WEEK OF PLUITANIS (Amaranthine to Denerim) End of winter/early spring. Alistair arrives in the capital to consult with the Queen on how they will deal with the Blight. The Denerim Commoner and Alienage Elf have just been arrested and are awaiting sentencing. During his time there, Alistair visits the city jail, picks up both the Commoner and the Alienage Elf and takes them back to Amaranthine, because he can't completely trust them to arrive there on their own. FOURTH WEEK OF PLUITANIS (Denerim to Amaranthine) Alistair leaves the Commoner and the Elf at the Keep to begin training with the other Wardens while they wait for more recruits for the Joining. It's a bit of a setback, but he continues on his trip south to visit the estates of the Wardens' allies, seeking potential Wardens in their knights and children. SECOND WEEK OF NUBULIS (Amaranthine to Gwaren) Early spring. Alistair happens to arrive at the Teryna's home at the same time that the Crow tries to assassinate her son. He Conscripts both the assassin and the noble, then is impressed enough to take the bard along. There's no time to waste in taking them back to the Keep, and they aren't safe traveling alone in case the Crows try to finish the job, so he brings the three with him on his trip to continue gathering forces. They receive horses and supplies from the Teryna to speed travel. FIRST WEEK OF ELUVIESTA (Gwaren to Circle Tower) After a little over three weeks travel, Alistair and his recruits reach Kinloch Hold. He informs the Circle that the Wardens need help, and receives four volunteering mages for recruitment, and a Templar. They, along with a few other Templars intended as guards (but not recruits), will depart from the Tower and head to the Keep on their own after making preparations. After resting for a day, the Warden-Commander and his party make their way to Orzammar. GAME STARTS AT SECOND WEEK OF ELUVIESTA We will not be running in real time -- instead, we'll be jumping ahead because traveling takes a while and would be boring to actually plod along through. Once those initial threads that take place during Week Nine are completed, the goals for the next set of events will be the following: THIRD WEEK OF ELUVIESTA (Circle Tower to Orzammar) In spite of the conflicts going on under the surface, Alistair hopes to get some support from old allies. Instead, he stumbles across a trio of exiles who are new to life above ground and may be useful to his cause. He asks them to join his ranks. FIRST WEEK OF MOLIORIS (Orzammar to Brecilian Forest) The Summerday Festival has just passed. On the way back to the Keep, the small band of travelers winds up running into a couple of fugitive Dalish elves, one of whom is an apostate mage. Alistair invokes the Right of Conscription to prevent the Templars from killing them. They continue north to Amaranthine. The mages have arrived there already and all are waiting for the rest of the recruits so the Joining can begin. SECOND WEEK OF MOLIORIS (Amaranthine) Finally, with all of the recruits at the Keep, they are set to the task of proving themselves worthy of the Joining. |
