What are sisters for? “Hey, are you still up?” Sutton asked, lightly knocking on Aislinn’s partially open door before entering without an answer.
Aislinn looked up from the book she had been reading. It was one of the ones that had been recommended in book club, though, not one that she would ever admit to reading. Curiosity had simply gotten the best of her. However, she was finding it to be a train wreck of sorts. She wasn’t sure what to think of the dynamics going on between the characters. She had never given thought to relationships with werewolves or vampires since they were considered dark creatures.
Though, realistically, she knew that such things were possible. She sort of wondered what it would be like to date a werewolf or vampire. A werewolf, at least most of the time, was just like anyone else. The main worry was during a full moon, but that’s what wolfsbane was for. Though, she had to admit there was something exciting to be said for such dangerous thoughts as the book alluded to. It was fun to fantasize about once in a while, but she had other thoughts that danced around in her head to leave her a little breathless. The candygram she had received lay on her bedside stand. She couldn’t help looking at it over and over. She knew it wasn’t much, but it had still been thoughtful.
She liked to imagine that this single candygram would lead to a date with John. That somehow he would realize immediately that she had sent such a heartfelt candygram and would want to get to know her more, which would bring about said date. Though, this was simply her imagination and she logically expected none of it to happen. Not the way Sutton seemed to just have things happen to her. “How was your date?”
Sutton gave Aislinn a look before settling beside her on the bed. “It wasn’t a date and there were a bunch of us.” She knew that wasn’t the complete truth since K.C. had kissed her right outside, but she wasn’t ready to share that. “You should come next time. I’m sure that you’d have fun. And there are a lot of cute guys.”
“John’s cute,” Aislinn replied a little sourly. She didn’t want to try and date someone else. Not to mention how awkward it would be. She was sure that she would bore the person since she highly doubted they would want to talk about academia of any sort. It seemed that most didn’t want to talk about those sorts of things. Of course, she would probably be the one to bore John since she was nowhere near his level of intelligence, but it wasn’t as though she would be given that chance.
“Sure…” Sutton didn’t really agree with Aislinn’s opinion, but it was her choice. “Well, at least, now he knows how you feel.”
Aislinn looked away. “I didn’t sign the candygram.” She knew that she should have been brave enough to. She knew Sutton would lecture her about how she wouldn’t know unless she tried. But none of that came. She looked back up at her sister. She looked calm…and pleased with herself. Her blue eyes narrowed in suspicion. “What did you do?”
Sutton turned with a sweeter than sugar smile. “Weeeelll….I sent John a candygram. Night!” With that she jumped off Aislinn’s bed and ran out of the room.
“What?!” Aislinn threw the covers off and chased after Sutton, nearly sliding on the throw rug. “Sutton! Sutton! You better run!" Oh, she was going to kill her! Catching up to her, she cornered her. “What do you mean you sent John a candygram?”
