Wagon ride [Tag: Kira] “Bye, guys!” Sammy grinned back to her moms as she got on the wagon, waving her last farewell until midterm. She came on the rest of the way and scanned for an open seat. The first one she noticed was next to Kira Spaulding, so she went over and took that one. Kira had always seemed like a decent kid, kinda quiet, but that was okay. Something about her seemed to Sammy to scream that she could use a friend, anyway, so the Pecari was more than happy to sit by her.
She dropped her luggage clunkily, a bit harder and louder than she intended. “Didn’t mean to do that,” she said sheepishly by way of apology in case the noise had startled the younger girl. Some people could be pretty jumpy, and she didn’t want to be rude. “So, uh, how are you?” Sammy offered, her speech slightly affected by the awkwardness of the situation. She didn’t know Kira too well, after all, but at least she herself was a fairly outgoing person. Plus, Sammy found that you could make a situation less awkward by just pretending to already be best friends. So that was her basic plan. “Did you have a good summer?”
Sammy partnered a speech with a warm smile. And while the seats were not particularly large, she made a conscious effort not to spill over onto the younger girl. If Kira was anything at all like Wu, then she definitely didn’t want to overwhelm her.
