Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Hey everyone! So, I'm looking to bring in this Selena Gomez PB, Leah Raychelle Montoya as The Dreamer. Yes, she may be a little young, but love knows no age, right? She's pretty much a blank slate, but I'm looking to make her around 18-20, possibly adopted or as someone's niece, maybe so the last name can change if need be. She'd be in college, not in any real rush to get a degree since she's not entirely sure with what she wants to do with her life yet. She's more on the optimistic side of love. She dreams -- hence the premade -- of the fairy tale ending with the Prince on the white horse and the happily ever after...which could eventually be her downfall when and if she gets into some sort of relationship with a guy. It's not all unicorns and rainbows, sad to say. Um, she loves photography, singing, and fashion so those are things she'd be involved with in her spare time. As for a job, something typical of a college student, I suppose; barista at Starbucks or a smaller coffee shop/cafe. That said, some regulars would be great to have! She'd definitely have their drink/pastry ready by the time they'd get up to the register...or even before that if she's on a roll with orders. I see her having a tendency to browse through wedding magazines just 'cause she can and just 'cause she dreams -- again with the premade -- of the absolute fairy tale wedding. Think 27 Dresses. She'd totally be like that. If there's any college professors around, we already have a line (hopefully)! Maybe a manager of hers? Classmate, some family member or her adoptive parent(s), regulars where she works? The list could go on and I'm willing to fill lines if need be. Uh, don't mind the bio in her journal, btw. It'll get some major revamping once I have a better idea of what she's going to be like.

that would be great! all her cups might just get a little <3 next to her name and 'have a great day!' tagged to the end of it. nothing like a spoonful of optimism to go with morning coffee.

i can offer lee for anything from uncle to starbucks customer to, while not professor, someone who has maybe came in for a talk? or maybe he worked as a guest lecturer for a bit, no idea. moral of the story is you're more than welcome to a line.

leah could definitely use some family...whether they may be directly related through her birth parents or through her adoptive parents (although adoptive may be the better route) or just by the mere fact he acts more like an uncle to her whether they're related somehow or not would be great! he could also be regular customer too. coffee doesn't discriminate.

Well he has five brothers so it's more than possible that one of them ended up picking her up along the way! For my own records, where did she grow up?

i can make it so, then! he grew up in canada, but seeing how lee managed to sneak across the border it's certainly not out of the question that one of his brothers did as well.

Not sure what you had in mind for her academically, but I was hoping to have a former promising student of Preston's. He's a high school AP math teacher and works at an unspecified Brooklyn high school. It wouldn't have had the best student body, but there are a handful of students that are dedicated enough to take the AP courses. I don't know if that would work for your girl or not though.

initially, i had her written to be terrible at math...which could explain her inability to bake as opposed to cook. but, maybe she did take his class because no other combination of her required schedule could accommodate a different math class, despite having struggled a lot with the material. they would then have more reason to interact because she has a hard time with the subject.

Hmmm. I don't know that she would have been a good candidate for the ap courses, but I can maybe say he does/did tutoring for most math courses if you think she would have gotten help that way? Preston loves teaching period so helping her understand would have meant a lot to him. Heck maybe he helped her with an earlier course which is why she might have felt comfortable taking one of his ap ones senior year? Even if just for a semester while she waited for an elective or something? Feel free to reject any of this. I'm just spouting off ideas as they come to me lol.

not at all! they're all very plausible ideas! i'm thinking we could go with the fact that he tutored all math students from time to time whenever they needed help maybe just because he was so good at the subject. then because of his tutoring, she challenged herself to go ahead and take his AP math class her senior year to prove not only to herself but to him that his teaching really helped her out. she wants to learn to bake and believes it's all because of math that she sucks at it so she wanted to get better and...voila! now she knows math and hopefully, she'll be able to bake something edible to show her gratitude, lol.

That sounds perfect! Haha! Preston actually can't bake to save his life, but he's an excellent cook? I don't know if we can do anything with that though, but with the tutoring:teacher connection, it's a start!

I could totally offer nat as a regular. her work schedule during the week demands at least 10 cups of coffee a morning and while most of that is brewed at the news studio i'm sure she treats herself to at least one good cup.

sounds great! and leah would not disappoint. she'll probably have an extra large of whatever she likes to order hot and waiting before she steps up to the register if your girl looks like she's gonna have a long day at work.

every day is a long day as far as nat's concerned lmao even if it's really not that bad. and i couldn't help but read your comments with ~presst and nat is quite the baker! she can't cook to save her life but she enjoys baking when she's stressed. it helps calm her down. she'd love to help in that regard lol

lol awesome! nataylia can take care of the baking and leah could help cook or teach preston to cook? it'd be funny nonetheless.

well, if leah is a dreamer of all of that, then i think she would JUST LOVE meeting shelby lee. shelby lee, on the outside, is basically all of those things but deep down, she's just a normal girl and very down to earth and friendly. she's the only daughter of the fictional penn oil company (based on cheveron) and getting ready, in a few weeks to marry a new york senator who is currently running for governor. they are also the same age. perhaps she's been reading about shelby lee's fairy tale wedding and when shelby lee comes into the coffee shop that leah works at (shelby lee LOVES coffee), maybe she recognizes her from all the articles and the two strike up an unlikely friendship? you are welcome to read through her bio for more info details on her life.

that would be brilliant! leah would feel like she's meeting her very own celebrity/fairy tale princess! she might be a little obsessive and probably pinching herself every few minutes to make sure she isn't dreaming that shelby isn't buying coffee at her cafe. eventually, though, she'll tone it down and realize that she's still a normal teenager like her. she'll also want to know all the proposal/engagement/wedding details. i don't think she'll stop pestering her about it once they start talking. her missed calls log will have leah's name all over it.

seriously shelby lee is one of the nicest people ever and she would never not talk to someone or purposely avoid them. it's not in her nature at all and she would welcome talking to/hanging out someone her own age and if leah was offering to help her with anything, she would even welcome that, too. shelby lee will be 20 in a little over a week and her wedding is about two weeks away.

Depending on where she's at college, she could know Andy. He's a little older, but in his first year at NYU.

i've tossed around the idea of her going to parsons or NYU. i think i've started her at a community college just to get the GEDs going. i guess i could have her at NYU only doing GEDs and some electives while she figures out what career path she wants to go for. then they could maybe have a class or two together or something?
