Hello! I'm hoping to bring in this RDJ as your ever so charming cynic. What I have on him so far is that he's freshly retired from the CIA (something he's trying to get used to). He's only been married once but has had flings here and there through the course of time. Possibly could have an illegitimate child, who really knows. Personality wise, aside from being a cynic, he's mostly arrogant (with some reason to be, he has the skills under his belt to back up the BS). He has this way of speaking that implies what he says is true and you should believe it, regardless. His tongue is sharp and he's been known to be a cunning individual, i.e. could sell a bottle of water to a drowning man - that sort of thing. For those that can stomach him, he can really be a funny guy. Beyond the arrogance, he really isn't that bad either and he could possibly even be a little bit charming.

Right now, he currently resides alone in an apartment in Manhattan and what mundane 9-5 he has now is still up in the air. He just wants something to do to pass his time. Um, as far as lines go... I would love everything for him. A few close guy friends that can stomach him because they've known him for so long, his ex-wife, drinking buddies, maybe that illegitimate child, "enemies", nosy neighbors, a person that tries to set him up with women, some family (possibly some siblings or cousins), and whatever else. I love to brainstorm!

Oh and before I forget, his name is Richard. Don't call him Dick, he hates it.

pera likes the sound of him and says they should be friends and/or drinking buddies of some sort. she's 35, a manager of a night club and also lives in manhattan. so they could be neighbors too, anything works for me. she's only had one major relationship but that was back in high school, everything else hasn't worked out for her and she has come to terms with the fact that she's just not the relationship type. she's rough around the edges but she has a good heart when she wants to. she wouldn't take his bullshit, basically, but would probably find him funny. so i'm game for anything.

After reading her bio, I think they would get along like two peas in a pod. So, maybe we could compromise and say they're neighbors, turned friends, turned drinking buddies or something?

Wonderful! I can just imagine the fun times that will come out of this. :D How do you want to say they met aside from just being neighbors? I'm thinking of some random encounter that forced him to talk to her. Maybe one day the mail man had their mail backwards or something, idk. I think she would be the only neighbor he spoke to. I imagine the other ones haven't pegged him just yet or just find him to be odd.

oooh, yeah. she'd definitely be the type who would have gone knocking on his door to return some of his mail - maybe it happened/happens on a regular basis? like they could just be cursed with a rather negligent mailman or something, idk. she wouldn't care if he seemed odd or not, she might have eventually even invited herself in and been all 'you're interesting. i like you. let's talk.' something random like that! oooh, and then she would have started bringing him food - because i have a feeling when she cooks she makes a looooot of food, since she grew up with a big family and never did figure out how to only cook for one. so she'd just be all 'i made enchiladas tonight, eat them so i don't have to throw them away, kthnxbye'. haha

I have a feeling Richard wouldn't like Cameron much...he's kind of a giant kid. Although that is not the premade I went with hahaha he's pretty much 33 going on 21, out at the clubs/bars all the time, drinking, hitting on women, real chill/laid back though. Uhm, yeah. Like I said, doubt they'll be buddies, orrr if they are, maybe Cameron can be like that annoying guy that isn't REALLY your friend, but for some reason you aren't entirely aware of, you let him hang around, even though he annoys the shit out of you. You know, everyone has THAT GUY in their group somewhere. LOL

It's okay, Richard doesn't like a lot of people all that much. However, instead of outwardly just saying it most of the time, people just think he's being sarcastic. Unless Cameron was just a general pain or did something to really piss Rick off, he wouldn't say anything about it and just keep on being an ass. If Cameron could stomach that, I think it would be hilarious if they had some sort of friendship or if they were acquaintances. IDK.

i want something i just don't know what. alex is a homicide detective for the nypd and tends to be a bit of a stick in the mud. he's old fashioned and a mild alcoholic and really just keeps to himself most of the time. if you make relations with ~nataylia then they'd know each other cause that's his baby sister and everyone she knows he's looked into. WHICH WOULD BE HILARIOUS SINCE YOUR GUY IS EX-CIA SO ALEX WOULD COME UP WITH NOTHING. i can see that being fun...

I'm not sure how they would meet but he could possibly run a background check on him because things seem odd? Richard is a man that lives in Manhattan, has a fairly nice apartment, but drives a cab for a "living". Then if he ran a background check on him and nothing came up, that would make the circumstances seem even more strange?

FINALLY GETTING TO THIS but she is definitely the type to go out for drinks. he should totally hit her up. I like what you and ~harkov have started. is he more the one night stand type or would he call her up for a date maybe? either I can work with. them being fwb might be interesting and fun.

A one night stand is more of his speed, but since he is a gentleman - to some extent - he would at least fix breakfast in the morning or take her out to dinner. He's not always a love 'em and leave 'em type. It just depends on the woman. FWB would work once there was some sort of trust/mutual understanding established.

that's what i figured. nat's the same way so it's all gravy. she's a news reporter/afternoon anchor so she gets around town (i tried to not make that sound bad but there really isn't any possible way) so maybe after said one night they just kept running into one another and more random one nights followed?

i feel like sujin would like him and hate him at the same time, so... something! she would call him out on his arrogant crap when they met, but they would probably get along really well if they got past that. maybe drinking buddies who bicker a lot?

Saw RDJ and flipped out. I'd be willing to take on the illegitimate child if you'd like to plot out that line. Depending on his age and whereabouts around the time this kid was born, we could totally spin this and make it work.

Well, I can change some details about the marriage. I could say that he was divorced at the age of twenty and that's when his son was born. That would make him somewhere to be mid to late twenties, since Richard is 46. I would love to have this line filled!

And that's exactly where Ryan's at; mid-ish to-late twenties. I tried to work out possible ways that this could work and make sense, but I think I confused myself in the process... Maybe Ryan's mom and Richard were good friends (they're both from New York), got drunk at a party and...you know the rest. The mom marries her college beau aka Ryan's dad and they leave New York for a few years. Maybe since they got married a little over a month after the party, Ryan's parents probably both thought that he was the product of their wedding night when in reality...cue ominous music...he's not. We could try and work that out or just opt for adjusting the marriage details for Richard. Either is fine with me.

Hmmm. Originally, I was thinking about going with the idea of him having an affair but I thought it would also be interesting if his ex-wife was the mother. NOW I LIKE BOTH IDEAS!

Regardless of what I do, I have to alter his time line a little bit but I have an idea! What if the end to his marriage was the result of being caught in an affair. Of course, Richard and Ryan's Mom go to two separate ways after that. It's not so far fetched because Rick is a notorious flirt and you mix that in with alcohol well... The rest is history.

So, I could say that he was married really young - at the age of eighteen, probably - divorced at twenty-one. He could have had the affair when he was twenty. After the divorce was final, he still went to school, kept in touch with Ryan's Mom - maybe, and went onto the CIA... etc. etc. Meaning, I don't have to alter things too much!

Sorry for rambling, I just needed to get my p's and q's in order. What do you think of all that, though? Maybe somehow the shit hits the fan, Ryan learns the truth and he goes to Richard about it? Or Richard could get a random phone call... something, IDK!

OMG... This spells epic! I was actually thinking that too! The whole...what if Richard’s ex-wife was Ryan’s mother. Ooh, that makes things so much more interesting... And no, I totally understand. I want to make sure things work out for both our characters and so far, I'm glad things are working out in regards to the line! I loves everything! I'll plot some more in terms of the mother's side and we can work out the details, but I'm totally in love with this line. As for how Ryan will find out, I have no idea, but we can think up plenty of possibilities of how it could go down!

Okay, so, scratch my last comment. What if we went back to the original idea of saying that Ryan's mother and Richard were good friends? They hooked up before Richard met his ex-wife, she had Ryan but never thought to question the paternity because she was in a relationship. Both adults went on with their lives and probably kept in touch (which would be a way for Ryan to know Rick - they could have met a long time ago). As to how it would come to be that Ryan would find out that Richard is his father, I don't know. Maybe he could have found a photograph or possibly overheard his Mom talking about something?

I found someone interested in playing his ex-wife and I think they also had a kid (this one, Rick may have known about) which would also give Ryan a half-sibling!

What do you think of those apples?

Something medical could have come up with Ryan or his father. That's always a sure way of finding out you're not the father. That or going on Maury.

Great minds think alike m'dear. I like her already. I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say she's the ex-wifey. Punch my if I'm wrong. But I was totally on the same wavelength. Here's my brainstorm earlier today verbatim of how Ryan finds out that Rick is his father: "...maybe a car accident brings up Ryan's DNA. Hit and run/drunk driver... Ryan's loss of blood...needs the same blood type -- Rick's a match. Blood tests show similar strands of DNA. Upon lying in hospital bed, doctors are speaking to Rick saying 'son' -- Ryan hears this...and when they're done...he brings it up! OMG!" One of the many possibilities. Maury is also a possibility.

I also tossed around the idea of finding someone to play Ryan's mother or just write her in myself for the sake of the line since they still keep in touch. Like thread their past or have a few emails show up from her to Rick letting him know about Ryan... OR if we go the route where he doesn't know about Ryan or thinks that he's not his son in particular (he just figures that she likes to talk about her kids, namely this one) then he could be picking up his old CIA habits. Endless possibilities.

But I'm game for going back to the original plan and a half-sibling for Ryan! Random thought -- if he totally was into the half-sibling and vice versa without them knowing until later, that'd be gross. Your guys' thoughts?

That would be the ex-wife! You're right about that. I like the idea of there being a car accident and Rick's blood type being a match. Plus, that's easy to work with. I'm thinking that Ryan and Rick's Mom still kept in touch, maybe she called him to pitch the idea and Rick would be wary about it - but eventually get tested. I just imagine them being so close that he would do a favor like that for her.

I could see the Doctors referring to Ryan as Rick's son, to which he would be like, "oh no... that's not my son..."

I think it would probably be more interesting if he didn't know about it and he would go along with her talking about Ryan. As for the half-sibling, she's going to be eight or nine years old! lol.

"Ryan and Rick's Mom..." I read that and laughed, then got kinda disturbed...then laughed some more. Apart from that typo, I loves it all. I'm starting to think that maybe we could work Ryan's mom and Rick to where they were maybe even best friends in school or growing up 'cause I think it'd take more than a drunken hook up to keep best friends apart. Which would validate him doing her the favor of getting tested and her updating him on her family and how they're doing. And as for the half-sibling...that's good that they're not the same age, haha. I'm sure Ryan would just love her to pieces regardless, though. Even before he finds out he has a half-sibling.
