Xanadu jolted from her chair as soon as she heard his feet and steadied her hands on the counter top. She expected him to be taller with the noise he made coming into the shop and had to adjust her blank gaze a little lower when he spoke. Her face didn't perfectly align with his to make eye contact but it was close.
Despite the fact that Logan's grumpiness made her nervous, she bravely decided to stick up for herself. She inhaled and then exhaled softly to collect herself.
"If you're going to scare a blind, defenseless girl half to death the least you can do is buy a cup of tea." A small half smile crept onto her face and she found just enough courage to tease him (very, very) gently, "Or do you plan on adding rudeness to the list of your offenses?"
Perhaps to calm her guest, Xanadu felt through one of the drawers behind the register and produced a modest cone of incense. She brought it to her nose to make sure it was the right one and then setting it on a ceramic tile, lit it with a simple plastic lighter.
