"Man in a suit Godzilla, only there wasn't a man in a suit." He just went with everything, didn't he? Took it as it came. He'd fit in well here, she thought. The City could throw anything it liked in his direction, and he'd just let it roll right off his back. Even Godzilla hadn't phased him.
"Nobody knows what the City wants. Nobody I've talked to, anyway. But the consensus seems to be that it's alive. That it pulls in the people that it wants, and then keeps them here. Sometimes people get put back. Sometimes they die here. Sometimes they leave and come back. Though I haven't met one of those yet. I don't imagine that it would be a very pleasant thing. Anyway, people come from all different times and places. This place is like a space/time vortex or something."
