The voice perked her interest, but once again, there was no smell there. Nothing to hold her mind, so she ignored it. Staring off at the wall.
That was, until she was being restrained. There was an animal reaction, an instinct. She struggled and fought, even though she didn't know what she was fighting against. Her mind didn't work as well as others had gotten lucky with. All she had were her instincts and senses, and the latter told her there was nothing there to rail against.
But she did anyway.
There was pain. The first real pain she'd felt in a very long time. It stopped her short, and ended her mad thrashing. She had the distinct desire to curl up into a ball until the pain went away. Her body starting to do just that.
