"Evil law firm. I totally see that. I'm actually surprised it doesn't happen more often. We did have a vampire church, though. Don't see a lot of those."
She rocked back on her heels and chewed on her bottom lip as she debated how to answer such a loaded question about the City.
"Well, this is all speculation, what I've heard and what I've seen. This place is known as the City. It seems to be a somewhat sentient dimension or pocket of space/time that pulls people in from all sorts of different places and background, only letting them leave if and when it wants them to leave. So, basically, very few leave, and you'll never know when, so nothing you do seems to be getting you only closer to home."
Staring down at her feet, Anita did her best to fight a homesick feeling. Damn it.
"As for why the City would want zombie chaos...your guess is as good as mine. Maybe just to see what would happen. That's probably why it wouldn't let me out to try and help. Plus it seems these zombies weren't really dead, unlike the zombies I would raise, so maybe my laying them to rest wouldn't have been a good idea."
Anita shook her head ruefully and tossed her hair back over her shoulder.
"So, do you have a place to live yet? How did you get here? Any ideas what you'll do now?"
