Something deep, deep down knew this wasn't the way it was supposed to go. But on the surface, he felt like he'd found the other half of himself. Her hand in his felt right, even though the sensation wasn't exactly all there. It was right, whatever it was.
The hunger was there again, held at bay only briefly by the snack he'd found and shared with his dozens of brethren. Monsters he didn't feel the need to stand by any longer. Not with her there.
