This latest ramble earned Fred a bemused smile. "Oh, I don't know. If you come up with a way to describe everything in the universe with a math formula, I'd say that's pretty exciting." He put his hands in his jeans pockets as he mused. "And I say 'you,' because I didn't get along with theoretical physics much. The professor didn't like the way I kept wondering what the point was."
All this, you see, meant he had time to think up a way to answer her question. "I'm staying with my brother," he said, decidedly. The way he said it was meant to imply that his brother was doing the supporting--which, in a way, he was. Up until five months ago, anyway. Or was it five minutes? Hard to keep track.
