Bruce was having one of his rare good mornings. He was teaching a primary science class this semester, and relished the opportunity to mold younger minds, to get them excited about science. They were generally about as excited as he expected them to be - about 20% studious and serious, 60% resigned and uninterested, and 20% asleep - but the experiments were always fun, if only for himself. Today was an experiment day. The magnesium had arrived just in time for its appointment with HCl.
Out of his peripheral vision he saw a purple head peering around a corner. Looking more carefully, the head disappeared. The glimpse he caught looked like a high school-aged girl. Was she cutting class? Was she in trouble? Bruce rounded the corner to find out.
There was a girl. There was also a Velociraptor.
Bruce stood perfectly still - not so much to avoid being seen, or appearing as a threat, but to calm his suddenly crackling nerves.
