Maybe Jo was speaking another language, because she was pretty sure that she had said that cats didn't talk. But at the very least, she was able to understand him. Somewhat. Right after the scientist part, Jo was just lost. She just stared at the cat blankly, having no idea what quantum theory or astrophysics was. Maybe it was some kind of advanced alien technology, because it certainly explained why she didn't know squat about it. Utterly speechless, all she could do was hold her gun and just stare.
Jolting out of her shock, Jo shook her head, and slowly lowered the gun. She would be a zombie by now if it had been a zombie, right? Keeping the distance between the two, Jo weighed her options. On the one hand, she could die. On the other, he could be telling the truth. The City was a strange place, after all. They were introducing a ton of people from all kinds of different places. Maybe Zuna-whatever-his-name-Jake-was was one of those cases. Either way, she was way too tired to keep running tonight.
"Alright." Jo sat down on the ground, feeling that they needed to have a talk. "Say I do believe you, Jake, right?" The corner of her mouth twitched. "What are you doin' in a place like this at this hour of night? Don' you have a place to stay?" She frowned. "Speakin' of which, if y'all don' mind me askin', are you really a cat?"
