John Coffey sat down on the bench next to the sleeping man. He carefully took the cup of very cold coffee out of the man's hand and set it on the ground out of the way. No need for people to get messy just because they wanted a nap in the warm sun.
He didn't say anything, just sat smiling, watching the people. Watching the bees.
His meeting with River Tam was almost completely gone from his mind. Now there was just a girl. A girl with dark hair and a nice smile who understood him in some way that he couldn't really comprehend and couldn't recall anyway.
