The screen of the tabletop PKE meter glowed with a jagged, pixelated map of the energies in the area. If nothing else, what Peter saw there was enough to convince him that Madame Xanadu was a genuine mystic. The store was thick with energies of all kinds, mostly orbited the woman seated across the table from Peter. There were some vaguely human-shaped forms that indicated spirits, which he pointed out to Liz. Furthermore, apart from her connection to extraplanar energies, she appeared to be fully human.
"No, I understand you," Peter replied to Xanadu. "That happened to me the other day when I ate too many Red Vines."
He scribbled a few notes in his notepad. "Girl named George, huh? Okay, thanks for the info, ma'am. By the by, you are aware you have a minor celestial demon spirit in here, right? I wouldn't bring it up, only they tend to multiply under the polar chakras and behind draperies in a place like this. It's pretty easy to get out of hand. We can schedule you for a sweep of the place by the end of the week, and since you're a returning customer, we can even offer you a special discount. Liz can give you the paperwork on that, if you're interested."
