As he eased the car smoothly into gear, taking off down the road that showed signs of fallen debris, Nancy turned about in her seat to watch out the back window. It seemed that at least for a moment that creature was distracted by a particularly smaller building that it was currently thrusting its foot through. The howls and snarls it gave could still be heard, even from inside of the car and she grit her teeth at the awful sound.
"His name is Godzilla," she informed the man, not even bothering to look over at him as she kept her eyes locked on that immense green lizard from cinematic history. "There's several different stories as to how he came into existence, but all of them ultimately lead up to this same event. The trashing of a city and its citizens running rampant."
She spoke with the same kind of coolness that he managed to effect, yet there was still the subtlest tremor to be found in her voice. She pursed her full lips together with a wince as she saw the creature thrash its tail around and, though she couldn't be sure from this distance now, she was almost certain that it took out the Black Diamond with it. The long blond locks of hair that fell around her face did not manage to hide her scowl from view as she shifted around in her seat now, facing forward once again.
"As for why it's here," she continued, though now her words seemed laced with a kind of bitterness that was rather out of character for her. "I don't know. The same reason as we're all here? Some kind of a sadistic game? For the enjoyment of a 'greater power'? I don't know."
She sighed and raked her fingers back through her hair. With the club destroyed in the monster's steps, she was going to have to find yet another job...just as she was finally beginning to really enjoy that one.
Shifting her bag around to sit clutched in her lap, carrying inside of it all of her worldly possessions, her fingertips brushed against an object that stuck out from the side.
"Oh."
Reaching inside, she slipped out the sunglasses she'd managed to grab from off of the ground. Opening them, she realized that one of the tinted pieces had several scratches from the tumble it had taken.
"I think these are yours," she said, turning her head to offer them out to him. "You dropped them when--."
But her words drifted away as she only now caught sight of his reptilian eyes.
She blinked and for a brief second was frozen by that sight.
Nancy had known her fair share of oddities in her time...she'd been tortured and nearly raped by a man whose skin was the brightest most vile shade of yellow. She'd learned to be wary of beings that were...well, 'different'. In a place like Sin City, you couldn't afford not to be. You could barely trust the 'normal' people, much less those that so obviously had more that lay beneath them.
But she wasn't in Sin City anymore, now was she? She was here. Wherever here really was. And at this moment, the creature outside posed a far greater threat to her then the man at the wheel of her escape.
"I'm afraid they got a little scratched," she murmured, seeming sincerely apologetic as she offered the item out towards him with a faint trace of a amiable smile.
