Guy of Gisborne had woken up confused and more than a little frightened. Last thing he remembered, he had been riding through Sherwood Forest and had hit his head on a low branch. When he had regained consciousness, he was in a strange, new place. All he knew for certain was that he was not in Sherwood or Nottingham any longer. Possibly not even in England.
The first thing Guy did was make sure he was uninjured and that his weapons were intact. He breathed a sigh of relief to find his sword and his hidden dagger were both still with him. That little bit of comfort helped him just enough for him to get up from where he was laying on the ground. This place was very strange. Many of the buildings were as tall as the highest watchtower. It was as if the entire place was a large castle, but it would be hard to defend with the buildings spread out as they were. The stone smith and carpenters should be flogged for such incompetence.
Guy wandered around for a few minutes, looking at some of the buildings. Quite a few of them seemed to hold tradesmen. Though the seamstresses seemed to have run out of material with almost all of the dresses he saw. He had no idea what to make of the footwear. Must have come from Spain. He was almost comfortable in his new surroundings when a very strange cart suddenly assaulted him.
It had no horses pulling it, yet it rolled smoothly, and very quickly on it’s four wheels. It made the most God-awful noise as it almost ran him down. He jumped back and quickly drew his sword, ready to go after the cart and find out what propelled it. But whatever was driving it chose that moment to break wind. And what a truly horrendous odor it had. And there were more of them. Guy all but ran in the opposite direction for those carts. He needed to know where he was and what was going on here.
It didn’t take long before he found someone that looked like they were from this place. One man was standing nearby, alone, waiting for … something. Guy straightened his shoulders and stalked up to the man, pointing his sword at his chest.
“You! You will tell me where I am and you will tell me now!”
