Eric listened to John speak. It was a series of words Eric had heard before, but not from the vampire. His experience with creatures of his kind was now much more vast and complex than he'd ever dreamed. Of course recklessness and dangerous was in John's nature, it was in Eric's and Macklyn's as well but they seemed to be able to control it better. Perhaps it had something to do with the fairy blood, or maybe it was because they kept themselves distracted and never hunted the people here for sustanince.
"Do you think I'm mad at you, John?" Eric inquired quietly. He watched the other man with a slight amount of amusement as if the idea was farfetched, "I didn't come in to this friendship with rules against your nature. I can't control you, and I won't control you, it's not my place to even try to step in," Eric explained softly, "I'm not your mate or your maker, just a friend that gets a little concerned once in a while. I'm not mad at you, not at all. I was giving you space to let your high emotions settle down is all. You're a danger to me like that, and to protect myself and you, it was the best option."
The fairy part of him wanted to go to John, to console him and hold on to him, the close contact was what that part of him thrived on but Eric didn't move. The other, more rational and sensible parts of him overrode the fairy and he let the distance between them linger.
