John listened. It was a distracting enough story to calm him further, and by the time materialized back he had leaned back.
"You don't smell like a ghost," he responded, almost sourly, though he wasn't petty enough to hold his own expectations against the other creature. "But fine. It wasn't proof. I just wanted to hear your answer." He clearly still didnt think much of it, but it wasn't really that important to him. Eric had never said much, especially about himself, but he didn't have to.
When he was asked in return, he let out a displeased sigh, looking back at the mess he'd made. It did occur to him that this was attention he didnt need to bring to himself. "I suppose I was seeing if I could still do God's work, as a point of curiosity," he said. Then he smirked. "Apparently not."
