Macklyn smiled. It was nice to be doing something so mundane. Life was calm and pleasant at the moment. Clearing the house with Eric, making a game of it, not using their powers at all to do it, and now this. He felt like he imagined an ordinary human might.
"We had ducks." Macklyn mused. "Not really in my village, but near it. We didn't exactly feed them frivolously, though."
He tossed a handful of popcorn directly toward the duckling, so the little thing wouldn't have to fight too much to get some. His eyes stayed on it. Such an innocent and unsuspecting creature. It was good to know that things like it still existed in the world despite all the horror and bad.
Macklyn knelt down, holding a hand filled with popcorn to the duckling, waiting for it to waddle to him, which he knew it would. Animals were attracted to fairies naturally, trusted them naturally, and this one was too small to sense anything else was going on with him. He picked it up when it did, his hands beginning to glow.
