Selina listened to his words. They confirmed what she had suspected that Ben and Eric had something happen between them. She didn't feel as though the Dark Avenger would come to her with quite a heavy task if there hadn't been a firm reason for it. And now she knew why.
"I'm sorry to hear that, darling. Are things better now? It's hard to have to fight with the person you love, I've been there before myself." She didn't ask any more than that out of respect for their friendship. Ben was, realistically, her one true and dependable friend here and too many questions was ground for driving him away. She didn't want that. If he wanted her to know the details he would confide in her, otherwise she would leave it be. If it had been anyone else she would have pressed harder for real facts, but the case was different here.
At the inquiry behind her errand, Selina sighed. "Oh i was just browsing, really." Her footfalls were delicate, soft and in time with Ben's own. "Honestly, I shouldn't have even been looking. Looking gives me hope that I don't need," she replied, wrinkling her nose. "Bruce asked me to marry him a few months ago, and foolishly I said yes. Since then, I've been trying to put a wedding together that, at this point, I don't even want to have anymore." Her shoulders slumped sadly, "People like me aren't meant to get married, I guess."
She looked at her feet for a moment, admiring the brightness of her stiletto heels, before glancing back up at her friend, "It's not that I don't love him, I do, it's just that he's been so distant lately. Always working. We sleep in separate beds in separate rooms...I'm not sure if he expects me to be content being in that house all by myself spending all of his money. I don't want that, it's boring. I need excitement...and I'm not getting any where I am." Of course she didn't have many places to go but she had been successful in her life with less options that she had at present.
With a sigh, Selina forced herself to smile, "Don't mind me, I'm just venting."
