It seemed to him that Eric had learned a great deal in the time they'd been apart. Macklyn had been ready to have a serious discussion about what Eric had done, and why it had been an important mistake. He'd been arranging the words that needed to be said and steadying himself to say it.
But Eric had figured it all out on his own.
"Ariel has no memory of it, either." It was the only thing he would add. He wanted Eric to know that the girl was free of her fears and that they had nothing to worry about on her end. He didn't say it to guilt his mate, though he was sure there would be some there anyway. The last thing that either of them wanted was to do any harm to that girl's mind, and in a way, Macklyn had. Erasing her memory of the conversation with Eric had taken something from her.
The table went away, and Eric was closer. That was all that mattered in the moment. Macklyn leaned forward, closing his eyes and resting his forehead against Eric's.
"I don't want to be without you. I came here, I called you here, to work this out so that we can be together." Macklyn let the love and forgiveness sweep through their connection, holding nothing back.
