John relaxed slightly. Knowing Melody hadn't been attacked brought about a certain relief, but it left him with a slight uncertain scowl. Still, if it was of her own volition he had no say in the matter; if Mel's affairs were any other's business, they were Pam's. John wouldn't overstep those bounds. Still....
He lifted his hand to her shoulder, then hesitated, still not quite sure how familiar it was comfortable to be. For Mel or for Pam. "Let Pam know. At least, before you do anything else to risk yourself. She could help you explore these powers, safely." He had no doubt that Pam wouldn't allow harm to come to Mel, or be able to heal her if something didn't go right. The thought of Pam's reaction if one of these "experiments" went wrong, however, didn't sit well with the fledgling vampire at all.
He let his hand drop, then pulled back slightly, ready to resume their stroll as he reminded himself of the rest of her troubles.
"Your powers.... do they feel overwhelming?" he finally asked. It was the gentlest and most familiar way he could phrase it, understanding himself the sudden onset of a hunger for something food couldn't satiate. A very human need overworked by supernatural forces. He didn't know if all power had the same affect, the same hold over those granted it, but it was a common enough theme in lore and his own experience to understand the concern.
