John noddd, though he didn't add anything vocal. he wasn't sure he was in the position to make suggestions about the clan quite yet. Besides, he was confident that the Erics would speak to them all when and if needed. He imagined everybody was still trying to figure out what had happened and brought them all here, and why there were doubles around of some.
He let Mel take her time, being quite accustomed to a patient silence when people tried to put thoughts to words. When she did start, he nodded, then looked at her, slightly surprised, though he nodded. At her final confession his expression softened considerably.
"You don't have to worry, Mel. I'll always keep your confidence," he said, knowing how key trust was to honesty. She wasn't wrong, in the aftermath of their escapades John understood Eric's caution in dealing with Mel's power. She was quite gifted, and being around the undead only enhanced her abilities, and the dangers they could pose.
He thought for a moment, then looked at her questioningly. "Are you just becoming more powerful?" he asked, curiosity hijacking the moment. When he'd been human he would have probably focused more on the sense of dread that seemed to be haunting his companion, but there were too many questions in John's mind for him to remember that. "Or are you learning new things?"
