"Great!" He looked over to where Crow had settled over the watch, purring contentedly. "Crow, come on. Bring the watch, there's dead rats in it for you if you listen."
Crow either felt like listening or understood the word rats. He got up, unfurling his wings and gathering up his new prize in his front talons, and took to the air with a caw.
"It's not far," Alex said, walking in the direction of the City Zoo. "Crow'll probably beat us there, get mad that I'm not giving him rats right this minute, and find something to wreck in revenge. Or not. Maybe the watch will keep him busy."
