Why shouldn't Rose be treated like anything but a Queen? She was a lady, above all, no matter how she chose to live her life. Matt lived by strict ideals when it came to women and respect. He wouldn't compromise them for anything, no matter what. He couldn't bring himself to view her with anything but the truth.
Hearing her words, Matt smiled and nodded as he pushed her chair in gently. "I think that would suit you. You're just reckless enough for detective work." It was a tease, but it held some measure of truth to it. That was not the first time he had told her she was reckless, but he liked that aspect of her.
"If I can help in any way, I will." That was a promise.
Breaking from her, Matt moved fluidly to the kitchen to gather the rest of what was left of dinner, bringing it to the table. Each dish had its own place on the table, and when the flat surface was filled with dishes of their supper Matt finally let himself sit.
