"Yeh," she said, "I did. Might bring more over later, but... It'll do."
She appreciated how casual he was being about all of this. She wondered if he was used to his girlfriends moving in with him or if he was just that relaxed about her having taken up a part of his living area.
It was more than that, though, and as she shuffled to the cabinets to collect place settings, she tried hard not to think too much on that. Too much, and she'd start overanalyzing and.... Well. She wanted this to be good, not stressful for either of them, and maybe it was better to keep her mouth shut and follow his lead.
"Sorry it took me so long," she added, as she began to set the table. She wasn't a guest anymore, and setting the table felt a little like taking ownership of that. Taking ownership of this place as theirs not just his. She was smiling a little as she set out the forks. "I thought I'd beat you home, but I guess it didn't turn out quite like that."
