"Thanks!" Matt called back from his place at the stove in the kitchen. The chicken was almost done, tender and sweet with the coating of the basalmic vinegar baked in to the breast. It was simple and easy, nothing too fancy but enough to fill each of them up. Simplicity seemed the best route. Moving always seemed too complex and sometimes a touch of something easy was enough to even out the balance.
He left her alone so she could unpack. Wherever her things ended up, Matt would acclimate. Adjustment was one of the smaller things in his life that he dealt with, and though at times the waters did run steady it was always bound to have its share of torrent. Not that there was any trouble now. On the contrary. Matt enjoyed the idea of having Rose there. Being alone for as long as he had was taxing. And here he didn't have to be bound to the night like he had back home, which was refreshing. It left more time for things like Rose, things more important than the night.
Able to feel her presence, Matt glanced over a shoulder at her. He offered a warm smile and a nod, "That would be great. Thanks!" Turning, Matt pressed a hip against the lip of the counter next to the stove and he lifted his hazy eyes to hers, "Get unpacked?"
