"Not pet," she said automatically. She didn't clarify, though. She had at first, when she'd first decided to learn what it meant to be a human, but time had taught her that maybe it was best if people didn't know too much about Royal Beasts.
She gave him one more suspicious look, and Blind Seer yawned lazily--or so it appeared. He was fond of doing this upon first meeting people, the better to show off his large white teeth. "Perhaps he is sincere. What now, Firekeeper?"
"I'm not yet sure." To Robin, she said, "Not seed others with fire here. Two days." She stopped and paused to find the words. "We have been here two days." She looked over at the fire and noted that the squirrel was blackening rather more than she usually preferred. "Stay," she ordered, backing it up with a flash of her own teeth. She edged backwards towards the fire and carefully moved the squirrel out of it, only taking her eyes off of Robin when she had to be absolutely sure that she wouldn't burn her hand.
