He continued running through his mental list of near-human cryptids as he finally opened the hand sanitizer and poured a good-sized dollop into his palm, then began rubbing them together thoroughly.
"Them? No. More like a responsibility. I'm in charge of the dinosaurs at the City Zoo, and I was a herpetologist before coming here. I mean, I am a herpetologist." He ran his hand through his hair absently. "I didn't lose my degree by coming here. So... yeah. Trying to keep them safe. And people," he added as an afterthought. "Them and people."
Above them, Crow finished his treat with a truly disgusting fleshy sound and soared down to beg for more, warrking loudly just above Alex and the woman. Alex winced. "That, though? That's my pet. And he's a greedy jerk. Down, Crow."
Crow gave a disagreeable sounding squawk but landed at Alex's feet and began preening his black fur/feather mixture, getting the last of the blood and rat fur out.
