Hannibal studied Dee as she greeted him. The hitch in her opening sentence told him everything that he needed to know. She could see. He didn't know if she knew what she was looking at, but she wasn't blind to it and that was the important part. His curiosity was sated on that matter. Now he wondered if she would be able to tell what had happened. If she could see the twinned souls inside of him. If she would be able to enlighten him on the matters of his joining.
"Dee. I thought that it had been too long since we last spoke. I feel that there is much that we need to discuss. We have a tenuous connection, and I would like to know more of it." Hannibal indicated the basket in his hand with his eyes. "If you're not opposed to it, I have created a snack that we might take to the park, where we might sit and chat a while in a sort of public private."
He imagined, if she knew him as well as she seemed to, that she wouldn't want to be in a space where she felt she couldn't escape, or where she would be away from the eyes of witnesses. Though he presented no immediate threat to her, safety first.
"I did not, however, pack a dessert, thinking that we might pick some up here. I do love your tarts."
