Tony didn't flinch or move as the other taunted him. He didn't care what people had to say most of the time, let alone what his opponents tried to boast in the middle of a standoff.
"All I remember is a broken wreck relying on decent people because he would have been screwed otherwise," he responded, voice cold. Then it was his turn to smirk. "You and that brat of yours have been trying to mess with us since you showed up. And look where that's gotten you. Maybe you should take notes about this encounter, because you can't seem to handle us or our machines." He hadn't heard about Effie being gone, having no interest in her since his best friend currently had no clue who she was. He was just happy the woman was out of his life, and out of his friend's. Now it was time to make sure Eddie was taken out of Annie's.
Despite his grin, it was taking quite a bit of self control for Tony to not stick the other's face into the cement a few times, but the inventor imagined such violence would only further upset Annie, so he held himself in check for the moment. His eyes never left Edward for a moment, however, and if the villain tried anything Tony couldn't be sure he could restrain himself. He and Annie still had each other despite all the odds, both being taken and then returned, still knowing who the other was, still retaining their history together. If they'd survived the City's ruthless selection and deportation, and the random shit that happened in it, Stark would be damned if he let as minor a threat as Nigma lay a finger on them.
