Macklyn's heart broke at her fear. He could smell it and feel it as well as hear it. The look in her eyes made him sad. He had hoped that maybe he wouldn't need to wipe her mind, but it was clear now that the hope had been foolish. She would always hold this in herself. Even if they were able to get around it and be friends again, she would still be afraid.
"I'm not here to hurt you. I'm just here to make things right." He believed that she would never tell. That wasn't the problem. "Please. Sit with me a while and let's talk."
Maybe if she accepted things, he wouldn't have to force her into a glamouring. It would be incredibly easy for him to do either way, but if she didn't want the memory... maybe it would make him feel less guilty.
