Liv was not a vampire. She didn't have enhanced perception. She couldn't hear if Eric had a heartbeat and merely assumed that he did. The idea of vampire heartbeats never occurred to her. Until Matt Murdock brought it up, she never seriously considered the possibility that vampires could be real.
Liv took a sip of her bloody mary and only barely tasted it. She gave the bartender a look. As hot as he could make it, huh? It was probably too much to ask for a zombie bartender.
When Eric appeared out of nowhere and sat down on the stool next to her, Liv jumped slightly. "Thank you," she said with a charmed smile. "They let you off your throne, I see."
She had partially assumed he was the entertainment. A hired actor to look formidable and brooding. It didn't occur to her he might also own the place. Owners rarely did any of the work, especially in food service.
