Bruce listened, studying her movements and the way she spoke. He believed what she said about her past, he had once been the exact same way. He had a girlfriend, a life beyond the program and had made a name for himself in the scientific community, far surpassing the reputation of his father.
Hulk made all of that vanish in an instant. Just like becoming a zombie did for her. He could empathize. Neither of them were meant to be happy, he supposed. Both of them had the unfortunate luck of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"I'm sorry to hear about your family's reaction." He was. His own family had been split at the seams. At least she had some semblance of kin before leaving where she came from, even if they hadn't approved of her choices.
"I hope you can at least make a few friends while you're here, if nothing else." He wouldn't give her false hope or make her promises he couldn't keep. She didn't deserve that.
